Endre
Báthory's Death
The guilty village was hit
by God's
punishment:
At the border of
Szentdomokos there
hasn't been harvest for three
generations,
and the villagers has been
sentenced for
weekly three days of fasting.
Endre
Báthory was a decent man, and he
was
voted as prince for his noble
character.
The infernal mighty wanted to
destroy him,
and for that, they sent on the
earth the evil
leader, Mihály, who destroyed Báthory's
army, after all, and set a price
for the
decent man's head. Prince Báthory
was
able to escape on his horse, but
as he got
tired, after a while, he decided
to rest at
one of the spring waters at Pásztorbükk.
In a short time he fall asleep.
The hired
assassins killed him in sleep,
and brought

his head to the leader,
Mihály.
On the
assassination's place, blood
came up from the ground,
and for seven
years only thistle
grew on the limits of
SzentDomokos, and the
population
weather died of
hunger or wandered
away.
After seven
years a young priest came
along the
countryside and placed a cross
at the place of the
assassination. The
cross shot roots in
the ground, right away,
and became a cross
formed pollen tree.
The blood stopped
flowing, and the
ground got its
fruitfulness back.
As the legend
says, the assassins
descendents are
recognized after their
right arm being
longer than the left.
