In 1575, at
Kerelőszentpál, defeated the
by Habsburgs
supported pretender to the
crown, "Békés
Gáspár", and after this none
would doubt his
leadership, nor from inside
or outside.
In 1576 he
becomes elected king of
Poland, and because
of that he had to
move on Polish land,
but even from the
far land he's not
giving up on Transylvania.
He keeps a
Transylvanian chancellery in
Poland, too, and
leaves his older brother
Kristóf as governor
for the country. After
Báthory Kristóf's
death, as leader of
Transylvania becomes
his minor son
Zsigmond. He
organized the Transylvanian
counts lands, taking
care of the incomes
from them.
As civilized
humanist supported the
education, such as:
schools and Jesuit
college at Kolozsvár.
