Báthory Endre near Szeben. 

  The defeated count tries to run away to 

Poland, but in the meantime, the dissatisfied 

Szeklers from Csík caught him on the road, 

and murdered him.

         Mihai Viteazul

                   (1557 - 1601)

  Originated from Valachian family of 

counts, in 1593 became the ruler of 

Valachia by  simply buying the throne. 

In 1595 decides to cancel the agreement

made earlier with  

the Turks, and 

uniting with 

Báthory Zsigmond's 

army, in the fall of 

1595 they defeat 

the Turks at 

Giurgiu. After 

Báthory Zsigmond's 

first resign Mihai 

Viteazul acknowledges as his superior to be emperor Rudolf.
