On the fall of 1599 for the order of 

emperor  Rudolf, but mostly following his 

own  directions, strikes into Transylvania, 

and as promising freedom for the Seklers 

puts them on his side, against Báthory 

Endre. After defeating Báthory Endre he 

takes Transylvania under his rule as an 

emperor commander, which he wants to 

rule by himself. And on the spring of 

1600 he takes under his rule Moldavia too. 

   On the same year the Transylvanians 

already raise against him and call the 

emperor for help, and defeat him at 

Miriszló. In a short period of time he is 

about to lose Moldavia and Valachia too. 

  Mihai turns to the emperor, again for 

support, who for a period of time is 

uncertain about him, but then gives him 

money for hiring mercenary soldiers, and 

puts next to him one of his generals, Basta.

Together, they defeat Báthory at 

Goroszló, as for, a few days after the 

victory, Basta gives order to kill count 

Mihai, being released from the 

uncomfortable, and incalculable ally.
