Brandeburgi Katalin
(1604 - 1649)
Daughter
of Brandeburgi the elector, and
second wife of
Bethlen Gábor. After the
great count's
death the
young
widow ruled
over
the country for
only
a few months, and
even during that
time, there was a
governor next to
her chosen by the
parliament, and in the meantime
begun
to grow the interferes,
of the
principality's counsel, into the governing.
She didn't
know much about the local

relations, she
didn't speak Hungarian, she
didn't understand
the way of governing,
and she was
influenced all the time by her
favorites, finally
she resigned in 1630 with
the only condition,
that she's allowed to
keep the gifts
given to her by her husband,
and the from her
husband remained
heritage.
From
Transylvania, at first, she moves to
Hungary, and became
catholic, then she
become a Saxon
duke's wife.
