Báthory (1571 -
1575), who later was
voted king of Poland
by the Polish people.
And that is the
reason why more members
of the Báthory
family take part in the ruling
respective governing
(Zsigmond, András,
and the last one
from the Báthory family is
Gábor). Between the
Báthory's era there
are other rulers
too: the era of Mihai
Viteazul, Basta and
Bocskai.
Transylvania's
"golden era" being brought
by the counts Gábor
Bethlen and György
Rákoczi, so as at
the end of count Mihály
Apafi's rulings the
Habsburgs to take
control over
Transylvania, and connect it to
their empire, after
releasing Hungary, from
the Turkish rulings,
and connecting it to their
empire. The great
principality of the
Hungarian
insurrection, at the era of Ferenc
Rákoczi II.
succeeded to shake the
Austrian empire,
for a short time, in

Hungary and Transylvania,
but after the Hungarian insurrection's fall (1711), the Habsburg empire
couldn't be shaken for
a long period of
time.
During the
time of principality,
Transylvania has
been a tax-payer state
to the Turks,
but as itself it was a state
with lots of
individualities. The head of
the state was
the count chosen by the
parliament and
allowed by the sultan.
And he became the
leader of the army,
diplomats, and also
the manager of the
states wealth. The prince
was the head
of jurisdiction and
only he gathered the
parliament. In his
works he was helped
by the chancellery
and the principality's
council. The
principality's capital, and
most of the counts residency was at
Gyulafehérvár (today: Alba Iulia).
